Moscow’s Cover Mockup: A Visual Narrative of the Post-Soviet Era

This Moscow’s cover mockup captures the turbulent post-Soviet Union era and its profound impact on people’s lives. The book’s narrator bears witness to the widespread disorder and anti-democratic functions of the system, which transformed ordinary people into mere agents of the communist regime. My primary goal was to create a design that visually reflects this sense of oppression and chaos.

To convey this sense of confinement and surveillance, I incorporated an obsolete radar on the cover’s borders. This element serves as a powerful symbol of the communist regime’s pervasive control. Furthermore, I added red trails to represent the catastrophic deaths of innocent people during that dark period. The color palette was carefully chosen to evoke a somber, melancholic atmosphere, while the typography was designed to be both historical and impactful.

The final book cover design is a powerful visual narrative. It successfully translates the complex themes of the book into a captivating and thought-provoking image. This project is a testament to the power of design in giving a voice to historical events and preserving their memory.
